At Long Last
OK, so I’ve been a little remiss about posting. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that sometimes, things get in the way of my plans and something’s gotta give. And recently, this was the “give”, and I don’t like that. Here’s to a new resolution about posting more regularly!
Two Fridays ago (the 17th, I think), we had a great night at the shop’s regular “Friday Night Rocks!” gathering. This bunch centers around the mitered square blankie project (in these parts we call it the “Memory Keeper Throw”, as you remember making all these socks, or who you swapped with to get this particular yarn). We’ve been having a potluck every week, and this night was all about taco bar

and boy howdy do we know how to put on a spread! There were two tables full of foodstuff, and it was all great. Folks had a great time

and were plentiful

and were spinning

and some showed off BEAUTIFUL projects in progress

That’s Gwen’s project, and she OBVIOUSLY has a background in piecework and quilting. BEAUTIFUL! Speaking of beautiful projects (I get to brag here), I made some progress a couple weeks ago on Girasole

and I’m THRILLED with how it’s coming together. I’m as far as halfway up Chart C (one sunflower petal done), and it looks like it will block out nicely

Better yet, I’ve managed to corrupt someone else (several, but this one’s my greatest triumph) into making one of these as well. Sabrina, our store manager has emphatically said NO to starting any lace projects for awhile now, and I managed to convince her, last Thursday, that she could do this…and would enjoy it!

Mwahahahahahaha…..another one! Funny thing is that she’s made some EXCELLENT progress in the mean time and continues to do so (I’ll share a recent pic next time). I’ve not touched mine in about ten days. Shameful!
But I did finish a couple things…….including the Eyelet Cardigan from ChicKnits

made with Schulana Sojobama, a tape sort of yarn made from bamboo and soy that’s machine washable and ultra drape-y. It’s sooooo comfortable to wear (they tell me) and this sweater design is perfect for the yarn. The gentle waist shaping flatters curves and the neckline is a little low and does a really nice job of flattering the face.
Also new, and a QUICK knit (like I started it on Saturday night and finished it Sunday morning) was this little jewel

Made with Marble Chunky and using KPS 295–Bulky Baby Pullover (sized for newborn to 2 years), it was a quick knit! I made the 12-month size and could have made a second with the leftovers. Not bad for just $11.99 a skein and completely machine washable. These would be a great shower gift, too.
So, I show you two finished sweaters in one post, and we all know what that means! NEW PROJECTS HAVE BEEN STARTED! Tune in tomorrow (no, seriously) for reveal day. I’m excited to share.
