Let The Frivolity Resume!
It’s been an odd couple of months in these parts, and I’ll just move forward and not address the icky parts and we’ll “stick to our knitting” in so many ways from here forward. Suffice to say we are blessed with amazing friends, family, customer (they’re family to us, too), and so much more…thank you for being there when Matt, myself, and our entire staff needed you. And thanks for continuing to support the shop and what we love!
I’m obsessed with socks–this is a given. I love knitting them, I love seeing them finished, I love wearing them, I love seeing what others do with sticks and string and some time. And I love new sock yarns. Behold this beauty

That’s the newest entry in the “Color Commentary” line from Lorna’s Laces, purveyor of stunning yarns and awesome peoples! It’s called “Amy’s Vintage Office” and is the brain child of Amy Singer (whom you know from Knitty.com and books and patterns published elsewhere) and Beth Casey, owner of Lorna’s and creative genius herself. The colors come from Amy’s home office–greys from metal office furniture, a shot of lavender grey from a file cabinet, and turquoise from a princess phone Amy owns. Sophisticated, simple, and evocative of an era that’s passed us by (50s offices…….wow, the changes since then!). And knitted up, it’s smashing

The yarn arrived yesterday afternoon, so I had to start a sock last night. That’s what I had as of 3 a.m. when I turned in….not too shabby! So pretty it almost knits itself, no? Of course, we have it available in Shepherd Sock ($11 a hank) at the shop, along with some Helen’s Lace hanks as well ($56 each).
This weekend we have a big crochet extravaganza at the shop on Saturday (the 20th), starting around 3 p.m. We’re hosting the launch party and trunk show for the Fall 2008 issue of Interweave Crochet, complete with a visit from the editor, Kim Werker and “Knitting Daily” maven Sandi Wiseheart. Come hear how magazines are made, participate in a gallery shoot for the crochet version of Knitting Daily (Sandi’s mannequin Bertha is making an appearance!), and just enjoy yourself surrounded by other fiberheads just like you!
I’ve got a couple errands to run, so I’m off for now……..more sweater progress, more personal news (tons there!) and more ???? soon, I promise!

ooh that is divine. Right up my alley. I also am a glutton for sock yarn! I was in the store a few weeks ago and would have stopped to say hi but it was busy with the sale. I did get some doggie love

Those colors are scrumptous – I think I would like this made into a vest to wear over a turtleneck.
Soooooooo very glad you are back and sooooo very glad everything worked out for you – I have really missed you.
